Pecnil Man was a small and interesting project I made during my master's. The game is a frustratingly difficult level based platformer. The USP of the game is how each level shows the art style of the game developing as if the assets were drawn onto to the screen by a kid and he/she was growing older. The game starts with the kid being only 5 years old, with shaky hands and unclean lines. The next level shows the kid at 10 and the art has significantly improved.

Designing Pecnil Man was a lot of fun as the game is intended to be frustrating. The player dies over and over and that is the only way to play the game. The design challenge here was making sure that, while players will be frustrated, they keep playing. 

Making Pecnil Man helped me understand games like Dark Souls and other such difficulty based games better and how difficult it is to make them. Along with the design challenges, the frame by frame hand drawn animations made the project a very important lesson in terms of time management and design feasibility..
