Atra was a game I made while doing my master's. Atra means Black in Latin, and Black Ink was my influence for this project. Atra is a top down adventure game about a world where all 7 colours have been stolen away by some unkown force of evil and all thats left is Black and White. The player controls the main character Atra who is an immortal being tasked with finding and bringing back all the colors back into the world.

Atra was an interesting design challenge as the USP of the game was that once you find and return a color, that color is then visible in the world, which means, the player can go back to the beginning of the game and see the environment in a whole new light. This happens with all 7 colors which creates a development challenge that was interesting to take on. 

Since the main character is immortal and cannot be killed I had to come up with other interesting ways to create conflict in the gameplay. Along with all these challenges the visual aesthetic of the game was of utmost importance. Combining all this into cohesive and fun game, I believe, has helped me become a better Game Designer.
